The Bergen County Y, a Jewish Community Center strives to develop, enrich and strengthen our families, our Jewish identity and our Jewish community. While creating Jewish experiences and embracing our values and heritage, the YJCC maintains an inclusive environment, celebrating the diversity within our community and welcoming all to share in our dreams and goals.
History
The YJCC was established on its current site in the Pascack Valley in 1987. When the doors opened in September of that year at 605 Pascack Road in the Township of Washington, it marked the fulfillment of a dream by a core group of local supporters, determined to revive the legacy and spirit of the agency's forerunner, the YM-YWHA in Hackensack.
Founded in 1917, the non-profit, voluntary organization helped a generation of Jewish immigrants assimilate into American society and promoted fellowship and community spirit through its array of educational, recreational, social and cultural programming for individuals and families. Today, the YJCC touches the lives of thousands of members and more through its core programs and communal service initiatives.
