The Bergen County Y welcomes those with physical and intellectual challenges, including children, teens and young adults with developmental delays and disabilities, physical challenges and neurological impairment, as well as those with multiple disabilities.
Reinforcing school experiences, developing social and life skills, and creative, social and recreational activities are the focuses of the YJCC’s program. Many opportunities are available, including art, yoga/tai chi combo, therapeutic martial arts, swimming and sports. An array of classes and social opportunities specifically for children on the autism spectrum are available as well, including Boost!, program for children with autism and their typically-developing peer buddies, and social thinking groups.
The YJCC’s Camp Shalom invites children and young adults with special needs to enjoy a wonderful summer day camp experience in a supportive, nurturing environment, led by professional staff. In addition, the YJCC is home to the Bergen Bubbles, a Special Olympics swim team.
The YJCC is spacious, wheelchair accessible and barrier-free.
